Soccer is a team sport¬†played by over 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world’s most popular sport. Because of this popularity, soccer equipment is produced and advertised by the most known sport brands.

The game is played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball on a rectangular field of grass or green artificial turf, with a goal in the middle of each of the short ends. The object of the game is to score by driving the ball into the opposing soccer goal.

Field players are only allowed to use their feet or other parts of their legs, their torso or head to kick and control the ball. The goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with their hands or arms. To train the required abilities like speed, stamina, agility, balance, ball technique and control, soccer training equipment is necessary.

The most important soccer equipment is the ball. A regulation size soccer ball is a No. 5 ball. Youth leagues may use different size balls, such as a No. 3 ball or a No. 4 ball, depending on the age of the children.

Soccer clothing includes jerseys, shorts and soccer shoes. Players must wear the same colored jersey or shirts. The goalkeeper has a different jersey than the team mates and wears gloves.

Soccer shoes can have cleats for better traction and acceleration but are different to football and baseball cleats. Shin guards should be worn to protect the legs.
